Dr. Eric Lichtenstein
Dr. Eric Lichtenstein was raised in Queens and proudly attended NYC public schools. Following college at NYU (BA, 1990) and Albany Medical College (MD, 1994) he was an Ophthalmology resident at The New York Eye & Ear Infirmary. With this comprehensive training in the medical and surgical management of all eye disorders, Dr. Lichtenstein went on to complete subspecialty training as a Fellow in Pediatric Ophthalmology at Indiana University. Indiana was wonderful, but Dr. Lichtenstein is a New Yorker and had to come home. He hung a shingle in Fresh Meadows in 2001, visited the pediatricians, optometrists and general ophthalmologists of Queens and Brooklyn, and dedicated himself to taking great care of the patients who were referred. Thanks to the generosity and trust of referring doctors, and the help of superb clinical associates over the years, the practice has grown and keeps growing. Dr. Lichtenstein’s mission – and that of the practice – is preventing and reversing childhood vision loss, eliminating suffering from pediatric eye disease, and restoring single vision to adults who suffer from double vision. At this point, he has operated on over five thousand children and adults, fixing everything from styes to complex cataracts in infants. The most common eye surgery for children for strabismus (eye misalignment), but Dr. Lichtenstein is also very experienced in the surgical management of ptosis, dermoid, chalazion, tear duct obstruction, and various other congenital and acquired pediatric oculoplastic anomalies. The only adults he sees, and manages, are those with strabismus.
